It takes a lifetime to learn another person. To marry is the biggest risk in human relations that a person can take.If we commit ourselves to one person for life this is not, as many people think, a rejection of freedom rather it demands the courage to move into all the risks of freedom, and the risk of love which is permanent into that love which is not possession, but participation. Because it is the nature of love to create, a marriage itself is something which has to be created, so that, together we become a new creature. Ultimately two people who love each other must ask themselves how much they hope for as their love grows and deepens, and how much risk they are willing to take. It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can see beauty even when it is not pretty every day, and if you can source your life on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the moon in God's presence. I want to know if you can be faithful and therefore trustworthy. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own if you can dance with wildness and let ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, or to remember the limitations of being human. I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving, to hide it, fade it, or fix it. If you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed down from fear of further pain. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, It doesn't interest me what planets are square in your moon. Wedding dress shadow box1/26/2024 It reminds me that even if everything is falling apart, God is in control, and it’s all going to work out… somehow. It’s a reminder of one of the craziest days of my life. I’m not sure what it means if there’s a hurricane.Īnd so this isn’t just my wedding dress. It’s supposed to be good luck if it rains on your wedding. Nothing fancy, but we were officially married and finally alone. We spent our honeymoon in North Carolina at the family cabin. We had spent all our money buying that little house. The whole ordeal was so stressful, I was never so glad to leave town, as I was the next day when we left for our honeymoon. Well the wedding did take place, there was a makeshift reception following the ceremony in the hallway of the church. Oh wait, we had high water!! (Not a good sign.) I knew she would make it happen, come hell or high water. I told my mom we were leaving on our honeymoon, whether we were married or not. The paper was full of stories about cancelled wedding plans for that weekend. We were still waiting on a word about whether the wedding would take place. The work kept my mind off my wedding which was rapidly falling apart. I remember my hands were covered with blisters at my rehearsal dinner that night. So the day before my wedding I spent the day hauling tree limbs out of our new yard. It was covered with massive tree limbs that had fallen from the trees. We filled it with folding tables and chairs.īut before the wedding, we had a massive clean up of our new yard. So… the rehearsal dinner was hled out our little house. That meant it had the power back one, almost immediately. Our little house was on the same circuit as a big hospital. It was basically empty, since no one was living in it, and we had no money to buy furniture. CH and I had just bought our own little house a few weeks before. The rehearsal dinner was to take place at my mother-in-law’s house. My parent’s house and my in-law’s house had no electricity. My out-of-town guests had hotel rooms with no water. The day before the wedding the church said they had no power, and they weren’t sure if the wedding could take place. Two days before our wedding a massive hurricane came straight for Houston. So if the dress reminds you of hers, that’s no coincidence. I got married a little bit after Princess Diana got married. It may not be an antique, but it certainly is vintage. Well then I thought, why not display mine as well? I’ve talked before about how I love to display my mother-in-law’s wedding dress. Parsec productions america1/26/2024 Equivalently, it is the subtended angle, from that star's perspective, of the semimajor axis of the Earth's orbit. The parallax of a star is defined as half of the angular distance that a star appears to move relative to the celestial sphere as Earth orbits the Sun. Stellar parallax motion from annual parallax The first successful published direct measurements of an object at interstellar distances were undertaken by German astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel in 1838, who used this approach to calculate the 3.5-parsec distance of 61 Cygni. Then the distance to the star could be calculated using trigonometry. The difference in angle between the two measurements is twice the parallax angle, which is formed by lines from the Sun and Earth to the star at the distant vertex. The distance between the two positions of the Earth when the two measurements were taken is twice the distance between the Earth and the Sun. The first measurement is taken from the Earth on one side of the Sun, and the second is taken approximately half a year later, when the Earth is on the opposite side of the Sun. One of the oldest methods used by astronomers to calculate the distance to a star is to record the difference in angle between two measurements of the position of the star in the sky. Applying the rules of trigonometry to these two values, the unit length of the other leg of the triangle (the parsec) can be derived. The two dimensions on which this triangle is based are its shorter leg, of length one astronomical unit (the average Earth- Sun distance), and the subtended angle of the vertex opposite that leg, measuring one arcsecond. The parsec is defined as being equal to the length of the adjacent leg (opposite leg being 1 AU) of an extremely elongated imaginary right triangle in space. Please help improve it by merging similar text or removing repeated statements. This section may contain content that is repetitive or redundant of text elsewhere in the article. This corresponds to the small-angle definition of the parsec found in many astronomical references. In August 2015, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) passed Resolution B2 which, as part of the definition of a standardized absolute and apparent bolometric magnitude scale, mentioned an existing explicit definition of the parsec as exactly 648 000 / π au, or approximately 3.085 677 5 ×10 16 metres (based on the IAU 2012 definition of the astronomical unit). Although parsecs are used for the shorter distances within the Milky Way, multiples of parsecs are required for the larger scales in the universe, including kiloparsecs (kpc) for the more distant objects within and around the Milky Way, megaparsecs (Mpc) for mid-distance galaxies, and gigaparsecs (Gpc) for many quasars and the most distant galaxies. Partly for this reason, it is the unit preferred in astronomy and astrophysics, though the light-year remains prominent in popular science texts and common usage. The word parsec is a portmanteau of "parallax of one second" and was coined by the British astronomer Herbert Hall Turner in 1913 to simplify astronomers' calculations of astronomical distances from only raw observational data. Most stars visible to the naked eye are within a few hundred parsecs of the Sun, with the most distant at a few thousand parsecs, and the Andromeda galaxy at over 700 thousand parsecs. The nearest star, Proxima Centauri, is about 1.3 parsecs (4.2 light-years) from the Sun: from that distance, the gap between the Earth and the Sun spans slightly less than 1 / 3600 of one degree of view. The parsec unit is obtained by the use of parallax and trigonometry, and is defined as the distance at which 1 AU subtends an angle of one arcsecond ( 1 / 3600 of a degree). 30.9 trillion kilometres (19.2 trillion miles). The parsec (symbol: pc) is a unit of length used to measure the large distances to astronomical objects outside the Solar System, approximately equal to 3.26 light-years or 206,265 astronomical units (AU), i.e. A parsec is the distance from the Sun to an astronomical object that has a parallax angle of one arcsecond (not to scale) Starry night pro vs backyardeos1/26/2024 So it might be awhile before I can do anything. Due to its durable and stable nature, moissanite is considered to be one of the hardest minerals found in nature. This arrangement endows moissanite with exceptional properties, such as high hardness, strong thermal conductivity, and resistance to chemical reactions. The chemical makeup of moissanite consists of a crystalline lattice formed by strong covalent bonds between silicon and carbon atoms. Moissanite is a rare mineral that can also be found in the Earth's mantle and in some ophiolitic rocks, where high pressure and temperature conditions foster its formation. Henri Moissan, who initially identified it in a meteorite. It was first discovered in the late 19th century by the French scientist Dr. Moissanite is a naturally occurring mineral composed primarily of silicon carbide (SiC). Its exceptional luster and hardness make it an ideal option for those seeking a durable, yet dazzling gemstone that is both affordable and environmentally responsible. Overall, moissanite fire showcases a stunning blend of qualities, combining a remarkable refractive index, brilliant dispersion, and an array of colors to create a gemstone that offers unparalleled beauty and allure. This exceptional hardness ensures that moissanite will remain pristine, resistant to scratches, and maintain its brilliant fire for generations to come. When it comes to hardness, moissanite is an excellent option for use in jewelry, with a rating of 9.25 on the Mohs scale, making it one of the hardest materials known to man. This combination of fire, color, and luster sets moissanite apart from other gemstones, allowing it to hold its own as a truly captivating and one-of-a-kind gemstone. Moissanite has a higher luster than diamond, giving it a more prominent and vibrant appearance. In addition to its fiery display, moissanite's luster, which refers to the way the gemstone reflects light, contributes to its unique shine. This variety of shades makes moissanite an attractive choice for those seeking a gemstone that is both versatile and visually striking. The color of moissanite stones can vary from colorless to near-colorless, as well as showcasing other distinctive hues such as cyan blue, green, and gray. The refractive index of moissanite is 2.65, which is higher than that of diamond, allowing it to exhibit even more fire than its popular counterpart. Its fire is the result of its high refractive index, which causes light to disperse and create a colorful display of red, green, and other colors when the stone is exposed to light. Moissanite is a unique gemstone known for its impressive fire and brilliance. In honor of its discoverer, Characteristics of Moissanite Fire However, after further analysis, it was determined that these crystals were not diamonds but rather a new, unique mineral made of silicon carbide (SiC). Initially, Moissan believed these crystals to be diamonds due to their similarities in appearance and hardness. He found tiny, sparkling crystals within a meteorite that had fallen in Meteor Crater, Arizona. The story of moissanite dates back to its discovery in 1893 by a French scientist named Henri Moissan. Moissanite is a rare and naturally occurring mineral that has sparked interest and fascination for over a century. With growing demand and a focus on ethical and sustainable gem choices, moissanite has deservedly cemented its place as a stunning and viable diamond alternative. In the world of fine jewelry, lab-created moissanite is winning hearts not only due to its affordability but also its unrivaled fire and brilliance. Lab-created moissanite is made from silicon carbide, a compound that allows for the same stunning optical properties as natural moissanite but with greater availability and affordability. This vibrant effect is even more intense than that of a diamond, as moissanite exhibits a higher refractive index. Moissanite fire, a unique characteristic of the gemstone, refers to the way it disperses light and produces a fiery, rainbow-like color display. Care and Maintenance of Moissanite Fire.

Haiti news desk1/25/2024 While former policeman Cherizier presents himself as a revolutionary and a Robin Hood figure, he has ambitions of becoming president and sometimes appears in the trademark white suit of Haiti's political class. (The Associated Press/The Canadian Press) Gang leader Jimmy 'Barbecue' Cherizier, seen here with members of his G9 gang alliance, began his career as a police officer before becoming the most feared enforcer of PHTK rule. Many have personal connections to Haiti's political and business elite. The country's biggest gangleaders - people like Jimmy "Barbecue" Cherizier of G9, Vitel'homme Innocent of Kraze Barye, and "Izo" of the 5 Seconds gang - control hundreds of foot soldiers and large arsenals. It is controlled by a patchwork of dozens of gangs, several of which have grouped together into larger alliances such as G9 and GPep. Port-au-Prince is a mountainous city built around a bay, with about three million inhabitants and some of the world's most crowded shantytowns. "And by the way, they're also much better armed than they have been in the past." Gang leaders with big ambitions There are people there that would not want - economically, socially - to see an international force like this. "It's not like people are going to be receiving the force with open arms. "The chief is probably looking at that and saying, 'Hey, I doubt that we have the ability to actually sign up for this kind of mission,'" Bowes said. He pointed out that Canada's military is about 10,000 personnel short of full strength, due to persistent problems with recruitment and retention. "To be able to sustain a number in Latvia, it's the rule of three - you have one deployed, you have one training and you have one back home and reconstituting," he said. And they know this terrain, they know their shanty towns and they know the city better than we ever will. I'm going to protect him and hide his weapons. I'm not going to hand over my son to a bunch of Canadian troops who come looking for him. Eyre's assessment that Canada doesn't have the manpower to pull it off. "For all intents and purposes, the gangs act as insurgents," he told CBC News. He said a fight against Haiti's gangs would be much like the army's long war with the Taliban. Retired lieutenant general Steve Bowes ran Canadian Joint Operations Command, the headquarters charged with planning such interventions. And there's a very real risk that, once in, any outside force would be hard-pressed to extricate itself from Haiti without triggering a new breakdown in civil order. The conflict is marked by shifting factions, alliances and interests that confuse Haitians, never mind outsiders. The fighting almost certainly would take place in densely-populated slums. It involves shadowy enemies who don't wear uniforms and mix freely with a civilian population. The mission is exactly the kind that professional militaries try to avoid. Wayne Eyre said this month he doubted Canada could pull off such a mission right now, given its commitments in Europe. If intervention is off the table for now, that would come as a relief to Canada's Armed Forces. "If there's a need for that, if there's a place for that, that's all going to have to be worked out with the Haitian government and with the UN," he said. Kirby gave the impression that no such intervention will happen in the near future. "As for multinational force or anything like that, I don't want to get ahead of the conversation." "I think they'll continue to talk about ways they can continue to support, from a humanitarian assistance perspective, the people of Haiti and Haitian national security forces," said White House spokesperson John Kirby in a media briefing for journalists covering President Joe Biden's visit to Ottawa this week.
